Effective Date: January 1, 2026

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the website, memberships, programs, events, resources, products, services, and other offerings provided by the American Advertising and Marketing Association (“AAMA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By accessing the AAMA website, purchasing a membership or product, registering for an event, downloading a resource, submitting information, or otherwise using an AAMA service, you agree to these Terms of Service and any additional terms that may apply to a particular service or transaction.

If you do not agree to these terms, you should not use the applicable AAMA website, service, program, or offering.

About AAMA

The American Advertising and Marketing Association is a professional organization serving individuals and organizations involved in advertising, marketing, communications, media, academia, education, creative services, technology, and related fields.

AAMA may offer memberships, educational materials, professional resources, events, awards, publications, research, directories, networking opportunities, products, and other programs or services.

The availability, structure, pricing, eligibility requirements, and features of these offerings may change from time to time.

Eligibility

You must provide accurate and complete information when applying for membership, registering for an event, making a purchase, submitting a form, or using any service that requires personal or professional information.

Certain memberships, programs, discounts, awards, events, resources, or opportunities may have specific eligibility requirements.

AAMA reserves the right to verify eligibility and to reject, suspend, modify, or revoke participation when eligibility requirements are not satisfied or when information provided to AAMA is materially false, misleading, incomplete, or fraudulent.

Memberships

AAMA membership is personal to the member or organization for which it was purchased and is subject to the eligibility requirements, benefits, pricing, duration, and other terms stated at the time of enrollment.

Membership may provide access to benefits such as member pricing, discounts, resources, educational opportunities, programs, networking opportunities, publications, or other services made available by AAMA.

Membership does not guarantee admission to any event, program, award, committee, employment opportunity, speaking opportunity, partnership, or other activity unless specifically stated.

Paid events, products, services, certifications, programs, or other offerings may require additional fees even when a participant is an AAMA member.

AAMA may add, modify, replace, or discontinue membership benefits as the Association develops and its programs evolve.

Student Memberships

Student Memberships are available only to individuals who satisfy the student eligibility requirements established by AAMA.

AAMA may require verification of enrollment, an eligible academic email address, graduation information, documentation, or other evidence necessary to confirm eligibility.

Providing false information to obtain student pricing or benefits may result in cancellation of the membership without refund.

Professional and Academic Memberships

Professional and Academic Memberships are intended for eligible individuals participating in professional, educational, academic, research, or related activities connected to advertising, marketing, communications, media, or related fields.

AAMA may request information reasonably necessary to verify eligibility or administer membership benefits.

Group Memberships

Group Memberships are subject to the minimum quantity, pricing, eligibility, and administrative requirements stated at the time of purchase.

The individual completing a Group Membership purchase may be treated as the primary organizational contact for purposes of administering the membership.

Participating members may be required to provide individual information before their memberships or benefits are activated.

Group Memberships may not be divided, resold, transferred to unrelated organizations, or otherwise used to obtain pricing or benefits for individuals who do not qualify under the applicable group arrangement.

Membership Renewal and Cancellation

Membership duration and renewal terms will be disclosed during enrollment or renewal.

If recurring renewal is offered and selected, the member may be charged according to the renewal terms presented at the time of purchase. Members remain responsible for maintaining accurate payment and contact information.

Cancellation of a membership does not automatically create eligibility for a refund.

Membership refunds are governed by the AAMA Refunds and Returns Policy.

Events

Registration for an AAMA event is subject to the terms, eligibility requirements, capacity limitations, pricing, schedules, and policies associated with that event.

AAMA may modify event speakers, schedules, programming, venues, formats, activities, or other elements when reasonably necessary.

Unless otherwise stated, event registrations are personal to the registrant. AAMA may permit substitutions or transfers when allowed under the applicable event rules.

AAMA reserves the right to refuse admission or remove an attendee whose conduct is disruptive, dangerous, unlawful, abusive, discriminatory, harassing, fraudulent, or otherwise inconsistent with the reasonable operation of the event.

Refunds associated with event cancellations, rescheduling, or other circumstances are governed by the AAMA Refunds and Returns Policy and any additional terms disclosed for the specific event.

Purchases and Payments

Prices for memberships, events, products, services, and other paid offerings are displayed at the time of purchase and may change without notice.

You are responsible for reviewing the price and applicable terms before completing a transaction.

You represent that you are authorized to use the payment method submitted for a purchase.

Payment processing may be provided by third-party payment processors. AAMA may receive transaction information necessary to confirm payments, administer purchases, maintain records, address disputes, or issue refunds when appropriate.

AAMA reserves the right to cancel or correct an order affected by a material pricing error, technical error, duplicate transaction, suspected fraud, or other significant processing problem.

Refunds and Returns

Membership fees, event registrations, physical goods, digital products, and other purchases are subject to the AAMA Refunds and Returns Policy and any additional terms presented at the time of purchase.

Where the terms applicable to a specific product, event, or service provide additional conditions, those conditions will apply together with the general Refunds and Returns Policy.

Resource Library

The AAMA Resource Library may include guides, worksheets, calculators, templates, reports, educational materials, reference documents, research tools, and other professional resources.

Unless otherwise stated, AAMA resources are provided for educational, informational, and professional-development purposes.

Resource Library materials are not a substitute for legal, financial, accounting, tax, investment, medical, regulatory, or other licensed professional advice.

Calculators, worksheets, templates, and similar tools may rely on information entered by the user, assumptions built into the tool, general industry practices, or simplified formulas. Results should be independently reviewed before being relied upon for significant professional, financial, legal, or business decisions.

AAMA does not guarantee that a resource will be appropriate for every organization, campaign, market, jurisdiction, audience, or professional circumstance.

Educational and Informational Content

Articles, Industry Insights, news coverage, guides, publications, interviews, research, presentations, videos, commentary, and other AAMA content are provided for informational and educational purposes.

The advertising and marketing industries change frequently. Laws, regulations, platforms, technologies, industry standards, prices, algorithms, audience behavior, and accepted practices may change after content is published.

AAMA does not guarantee that every piece of content will remain current indefinitely.

Readers and users are responsible for evaluating information in light of their own circumstances and obtaining appropriate professional advice when necessary.

Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, the AAMA website and its original content, branding, designs, graphics, publications, resources, text, photographs, videos, downloadable materials, logos, trademarks, and other materials are owned by, licensed to, or otherwise lawfully used by AAMA.

These materials are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws.

You may access AAMA materials for lawful personal, educational, or internal professional use consistent with the purpose for which they were provided.

Unless AAMA expressly permits otherwise, you may not:

  • Reproduce or republish substantial portions of AAMA materials for commercial distribution
  • Sell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute AAMA resources
  • Remove copyright, attribution, trademark, or ownership notices
  • Present AAMA content as your own original work
  • Use AAMA trademarks, logos, or branding in a manner that implies endorsement, affiliation, sponsorship, or authorization
  • Create competing products primarily by reproducing or repackaging AAMA proprietary resources
  • Scrape, systematically extract, or automatically collect substantial portions of AAMA content without authorization

Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of AAMA intellectual property to you.

AAMA Name, Logos, and Membership Status

Membership in AAMA does not give a member ownership of or unrestricted rights to the AAMA name, trademarks, logos, seals, or other branding.

Members may accurately identify themselves as AAMA members while their membership is active, subject to any branding or usage guidelines established by AAMA.

Membership may not be represented as a professional license, government credential, certification, accreditation, endorsement, or guarantee of professional competence unless AAMA expressly identifies a specific program as providing such status.

AAMA may require the removal of its name, logos, or membership representations when they are used inaccurately, deceptively, unlawfully, or after the relevant membership or authorization has ended.

User Submissions

AAMA may allow users to submit forms, comments, nominations, applications, articles, photographs, professional information, research, award materials, directory information, feedback, or other content.

You remain responsible for content you submit.

By submitting content to AAMA, you represent that you have the rights and permissions necessary to provide it and that your submission does not knowingly violate applicable law or the rights of another person or organization.

Unless separate submission terms state otherwise, you grant AAMA a nonexclusive right to use submitted content as reasonably necessary to review the submission, administer the applicable program, communicate with you, maintain organizational records, and provide the service for which the material was submitted.

If content is submitted specifically for publication, promotion, an award, a directory, an event, a public profile, or another public-facing purpose, AAMA may use that content in connection with that stated purpose.

Additional licensing or publication terms may apply to particular submission programs.

Prohibited Conduct

You may not use the AAMA website, services, resources, or systems to:

  • Violate applicable law
  • Commit or facilitate fraud
  • Impersonate another person or organization
  • Submit knowingly false or materially misleading information
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, data, or restricted resources
  • Interfere with website security or functionality
  • Introduce malicious code, malware, or other harmful technology
  • Harvest personal information without authorization
  • Use automated tools to extract substantial amounts of content without permission
  • Harass, threaten, abuse, or unlawfully discriminate against another person
  • Infringe copyrights, trademarks, privacy rights, publicity rights, or other legal rights
  • Misrepresent an affiliation with, endorsement by, or authority from AAMA
  • Resell or commercially redistribute restricted AAMA content or benefits without authorization
  • Use AAMA services in a manner that materially interferes with their intended operation

AAMA may investigate suspected misuse and take appropriate action.

Member and Participant Conduct

AAMA is intended to support professional education, communication, collaboration, and advancement within the advertising and marketing community.

Members, attendees, applicants, contributors, volunteers, and other participants are expected to interact professionally and lawfully when participating in AAMA activities.

AAMA may establish additional codes of conduct, event rules, committee requirements, community standards, or program-specific policies.

Material violations may result in removal from an event, suspension of privileges, termination of participation, or termination of membership when appropriate.

Third-Party Services and Links

The AAMA website may contain links to third-party websites, publications, platforms, social networks, services, tools, or resources.

Third-party services are operated independently from AAMA. AAMA does not control and is not responsible for their availability, content, privacy practices, security, accuracy, products, services, or terms.

A link to a third-party resource does not automatically constitute an endorsement, partnership, sponsorship, or recommendation.

Your use of third-party services is subject to the terms and policies established by those providers.

Advertising, Sponsorships, and Partnerships

AAMA may work with sponsors, advertisers, partners, vendors, educational institutions, media organizations, professional organizations, or other third parties.

Sponsorship, advertising, participation, or partnership does not necessarily constitute an endorsement by AAMA of every product, service, claim, opinion, or practice associated with that organization.

AAMA may establish additional terms for sponsors, advertisers, partners, exhibitors, vendors, and other commercial participants.

Awards and Recognition

AAMA may administer awards, honors, nominations, rankings, recognitions, competitions, or similar programs.

Eligibility, judging standards, deadlines, categories, selection procedures, and other requirements may vary by program.

Submission of a nomination or application does not guarantee selection, recognition, publication, or an award.

AAMA may correct errors, verify information, determine eligibility, and modify or withdraw recognition when reasonably necessary to protect the integrity of an awards program.

Availability of Services

AAMA does not guarantee that its website, resources, membership systems, registration systems, downloads, or other digital services will be available continuously or without interruption.

We may temporarily restrict, suspend, modify, or discontinue portions of the website or particular services for maintenance, security, technical, operational, legal, or organizational reasons.

Where practical, AAMA may attempt to minimize disruption, but continuous availability is not guaranteed.

Disclaimer of Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, AAMA websites, resources, content, tools, programs, and services are provided on an “as available” and “as is” basis.

AAMA does not warrant that every resource, statement, calculation, publication, recommendation, link, service, or piece of information will be complete, error-free, uninterrupted, current, or appropriate for every user’s circumstances.

AAMA does not guarantee particular professional, financial, marketing, advertising, educational, employment, business, or commercial results from membership or from the use of its resources, programs, events, or services.

Nothing offered by AAMA should be interpreted as a guarantee of business performance, campaign performance, employment, client acquisition, revenue, professional advancement, awards, recognition, or other outcomes.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, AAMA and its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, representatives, contractors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or related to use of the website, membership, events, resources, products, services, or third-party links.

This includes, where legally permitted, loss of profits, revenue, business opportunity, data, goodwill, anticipated savings, or other consequential losses.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Indemnification

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to be responsible for claims, losses, liabilities, damages, and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use of AAMA services, your material violation of these Terms, or your infringement of the rights of another person or organization.

This provision does not apply to the extent a claim results from conduct for which AAMA is legally responsible.

Suspension and Termination

AAMA may suspend or terminate access to a membership, program, event, resource, account, or other service when reasonably necessary because of:

  • Material violation of these Terms
  • Fraud or suspected fraudulent activity
  • Abuse of membership or program benefits
  • Security risks
  • Nonpayment
  • False eligibility information
  • Unlawful conduct
  • Material violation of applicable event or program rules
  • Conduct that threatens the safety, integrity, or lawful operation of AAMA activities or systems

Where appropriate, AAMA may provide notice or an opportunity to address the issue before termination. Immediate action may be taken when necessary to protect individuals, systems, property, legal rights, or the integrity of an AAMA program.

Termination does not create a right to a refund except where required by applicable law or expressly provided under the AAMA Refunds and Returns Policy.

Privacy

Information collected through AAMA websites, forms, memberships, purchases, programs, and services is handled in accordance with the AAMA Privacy Policy.

By using AAMA services, you acknowledge that information may be processed as described in that policy.

Changes to These Terms

AAMA may update these Terms of Service to reflect changes in our programs, services, operations, technology, policies, or legal obligations.

When these Terms are revised, the Effective Date at the top of this page will be updated.

Material changes may also be communicated through the website or other appropriate channels when reasonably necessary or legally required.

Continued use of an AAMA service after revised Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is determined to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.

No Waiver

AAMA’s failure to enforce a provision of these Terms on one occasion does not waive its right to enforce that provision or another provision in the future.

Entire Agreement

These Terms of Service, together with the AAMA Privacy Policy, Refunds and Returns Policy, and any additional terms presented for a particular membership, event, program, product, service, or transaction, constitute the applicable agreement between you and AAMA regarding your use of those offerings.

If specific program or transaction terms conflict with these general Terms, the more specific terms will control with respect to that program or transaction.
